Dentures & Partials

Healthy Smiles for the Whole Family

What are Dentures & Partials?

A denture is a full set of prosthetic teeth that are designed to replace an entire arch of missing dentition. A partial is another type of prosthetic that is smaller in size and designed to only replace a few missing teeth at a time. Both appliances can be made for you easily in our office. They help to improve oral functionality and appearance so that you can feel great about yourself.

Why would Dentures & Partials be needed?

When you’re missing all or most of your teeth, it can be downright difficult to live life normally. You might have issues eating and chewing, or you might have low self-esteem. In some instances, your face and lips may appear sunken-in because of the lack of available dentition. In order to improve how your mouth functions, feels and looks, a denture is necessary.

Who is a good candidate for Dentures & Partials?

Patients with advanced gum disease or who are already missing a lot of their teeth are good candidates for either a denture or partial. Before recommending an appliance, we will perform an exam to get an idea of what is necessary. If you have an older appliance, we can replace it in our office. Most dentures will last for anywhere from five to seven years with the proper care and storage.

What happens during the process for Dentures & Partials?

The first step is to take molds, or impressions, of your teeth. These detailed impressions are then used to make the actual appliance. You will come in for another appointment so that we can have the denture fitted and adjusted as needed. It is important to remove the prosthetic nightly in order to give it a good clean and to store it away from children and pets. With the right care, your new appliance will provide you with years of a beautiful, bright and full smile.
